Breaking the “Two Weeks Curse”
I finally broke a curse!
My mountaineering buddies has been predicting I couldn’t let two weeks to pass without any outdoor gig- a curse I (we, because I usually inflict them with this avarice) incurred after being addicted to the wilderness and nature here in Mindanao.
Since we started marauding outdoor places since march this year, I’ve been going places after places with barely two weeks in between expeditions! From the Marilog waterfall and spelunking, Mt. Apo Holy week climb, Samal Adventure, Lake Sebu Waterfalls, Bukidnon’s Mt. Kitanglad Climb and Sumalsag Cave Spelunking and just recently Mt. Matutum Climb-all in just three months! “Definitely nuts” my buddies would tell me. I am an outdoor geek on the loose.
And who would not be? I’ve been born and I grew up in Mindanao. Yet, I am still awed by the so many places I once thought never existed here! But these pictures wouldn’t lie.
Well, if Google Search couldn’t find. It’s probably not there. Wrong. Take the case of the beautiful Marilog series of falls or the caves, the Tinago Falls or the Dongon Seven Falls. When I first searched through the net (and google), I got weird results. None of the results satisfied my curiosity.
Back to “breaking the curse”.
I said broke the curse because this time, I’d be trekking again, after almost three weeks from my last climb. Three weeks. Not two weeks. Thats enough to break a curse.
My buddies finally gave in to my prodding. It was originally whitewater rafting in Cagayan and the Tinago Falls in Iligan that I was itching to set foot into. Another friend told me there is this Gumasa Islands in Glan that is purportedly a ‘mini Boracay‘ because of its white sandy beaches. But I would be on a solo trip had I pushed through with that ridiculous schedule. ‘Buti ka Dokie dami ka time” said one envious mountaineer. I said ” gagawa ako ng time“
So this Saturday is another time. Time to break a curse, and a time to sojourn with nature.

Whoa!!! I need to go to Mindanao!!!
