Thinking about moving to wordpress if;

• I get my own domain name and host soon. These seem to be my committed step for transfer I think
• I learn to deal with php scripts and coding to tweak templates. I know blogger, not wordpress
• I get a free, good looking theme for my blog, like a free version of Thesis Theme perhaps?(wishing)
• I knew how to handle these plugins and scripts. Pesky?
• Someone teaches me how to, the simple way. Anyone?

DD-WRT Firmware for Linsys WRT54G 2.2

I had this Linsys WRT54G 2.2 wireles/LAN Router for almost 3 years now and yet I have not been able to make it work for my internet access.  The router acts as a gateway for my internet access (PC and laptop) and is connected to my DSL router(Zyxel Prestige 643)on static IP.  When connected initially I get a streaming net connection but after a few idle minutes, my net connection is gone. I couldn’t even ping my IP and DNS. So I tried these solutions and how they fared:

Surviving Vista Home Premium

I just bought a new Acer Aspire 2707Z with Vista Home Premium and my brain is still bogged by how am I suppose to subdue this OS. I’ve been used to Windows XP SP2 and when I migrated to Vista, everything was so fucked up. I admit XP SP2 is the more stable of all Windows OS distribution but sometimes, it’s hard to do simple things with your computers running such OSes.

In vista, its all about complicating things and not doing anything.  Taken that it was built for non techie users out there, I wonder how these non techies would be able to overcome such incredulous pop ups and guides that ultimately says “Windows cannot diagnose/fix your problem so it will disable your device”! Whadda frack???

Yahoo Messenger 9.0 Login Error xxxxxxx

Frustration bring out the worst in me. I often end up in a near consuming exasperation. Like this yahoo messenger log in 9.0 error  that says I cannot log in and I should try again some other time.  Great!!!The moronic advice did everything  but help. For days now I’ve been trying out the various solutions yahoo messenger techies offered- from downloading the newest fix/version, changing my proxy settings, checking my firewalls, making sure my password is correct (I can access my mails) to scanning my pc for malwares, trojans and viruses. But, nothing worked thanks to the ym blog advice.

Internet Explorer security flaw: So what’s new???

Save for a few web design compatibility testing, I’m not an IE user myself. But this recent”major  security flaw” in IE7( and probably, all versions of IE) made me gasps in disbelief. Disbelief in the fact that, there are still IE users out there unconvinced about security threats in all IE versions.   The poor users now are urged to switch to other browsers (Firefox for example) that are not prone to security holes.

A blogger’s personality: What sort are you?

I chance upon this site, Typealyzer, while rummaging through Jester’s blog  (Jester in Exile) . Typealyzer says it can actually “diagnose” the personality type of the blogger with just a url to his/her site. Of course, we practically don’t know the metrics they’re using here thus ,  at best their results should be interpreted with (extreme) caution.

Like if you have multiple blogs that cater to different niches. You expect to have at least two different personalities but that doesn’t mean you have multiple personalities or you are the split personality type of individual.

No BS man, they junked the impeachment complaint!??

Well, it seems unlikely to even get a media mileage long enough for the move to gain grounds. The old dogs in new cats paw certainly killed the raucous before it can even steal the show from the circus of honorables. And I thought the epidemic of diarrhea may have been a willful cause of so much delays in so many congressional debacles. But not this time. For the fourth time, the shenanigans was swift and deliberate in butchering the prodigal clamor for the feisty lady to step down. And without shame of course. Or are we pinoys just plain numb to just let this pass and say “ano ba expect mo?” and continue our doldrums in wowowee.

Finally, Depo MastHead, a magazine style theme for the free wordpress!

I’ve been ogling for WordPress.com to introduce a magazine style format in their free WordPress blogs.  Perhaps the popular blogging platform couldn’t resist the flood of requests by everyone, to include one Magazine theme into their free WordPress.com version. Depo Masthead, though certainly lacking the full features of a magazine style WordPress.org blog (like the popular Revolution theme) , is a delightful theme free- tasting to the unconvinced free WordPress.com bloggers.

It is here, now. And I grabbed it.

WordCamp, Pinoy style!

What can you say? I have no words but praise for the organizers, sponsors and supporters of WordCamp Philippines, the first one in Southeast Asia!

So who’s going to the Word Camp Philippines 2008?

I am. At least that what I intend to when I registered for this first ever WordCamp event in the Philippines!

The date, September 6, 2008 happen to be around the weeks I am officially on vacation! And the venue? Well College of St. Benilde in Taft Avenue is just an LRT away from where I lived before!
